Frequently Asked Questions
Can the off-season planning be done remotely?
Much of the fall and off-season planning can be handled remotely, and on-site presence is required during staff training and throughout the summer program season at Camp Kiwanilong in Warrenton, OR. That said, we find it most beneficial for the Director to live locally — community outreach and a strong understanding of the local community are crucial to the role.
Is housing included?
Housing and meals are included during the summer program only. They are not provided during the off-season planning months.
What are the dates of the summer camp season?
Our season runs from late June through early August, preceded by a setup and staff orientation week before the first session. For reference, the 2026 season ran:
- Castles & Crowns Week — June 22–26 · Day Camp (Grades 2–6)
- Superheroes Week — June 28–July 2 · Short Overnight (Grades 3–8)
- Alien Week — July 5–11 · Overnight (Grades 3–8)
- Junior High Week — July 12–18 · Overnight (Grades 7–9)
- Wild West Week — July 21–25 · Short Overnight (Grades 3–8)
- Pirate Week — July 26–August 1 · Overnight (Grades 3–8)
How many campers and staff will the Director oversee?
The camp serves an average of 100–120 campers per week, and the Director leads a seasonal staff of 50–60 high school and college-age members across the full summer.
Is Camp Kiwanilong ACA accredited?
